Freeland Reserves 6 – 2 Yarnton Reserves
Although you would of thought both sides would be slightly weaker with It being first game of the season there was plenty of football on show from both sides for the opening league game of the season. Yarnton started off the match in there typical fashion pressing Freeland early and battling firmly, which resulted in an early goal to give Yarnton a 1-0 lead through Dan Woodley. The game then plateaued for the next 10-15 minutes with neither side able to score, however, Freeland then broke the defence with a perfectly weighted ball over the top for Simlett to put across goal for Swiergon to finish off. Freeland followed this up rapidly with a goal from Tinsley and again scoring just before half time through Simlett.
The second half began with Yarnton having more chances but not able to get one past keeper Flood with the Freeland defence having to work very hard. This was rewarded when Freeland earnt a free kick on the edge of the area, from some good counter attacking play, for Nicholson to place in to the back of the net. Freeland quickly scored their final two goals through Browning and Simlett before a consolation goal was scored for Yarnton by Dan Woodley to give him his second of the afternoon.
Overall an eye pleasing performance for both sides which will give both teams plenty to work with for the coming season.
