Semi Final Time

Freeland entertained Watlington in the Semi final of the charity Cup.
The beaten finalists knew that they would have to beat a relatively unknown outfit in Watlington as they play in another league.
The Simon Hole Memorial ground was wet Extremely wet in fact and Sam I’ll do anything for Freeland football Club needs a huge Pat on the back for getting this one on.
The game started very slowly with both teams finding each other out. Neither side wanting to give much away in the early exchanges. Danny Taylor causing the away side problems with his pace in behind.
The Yellows for the day (Lucky Kit) were now starting to command a foot hols on the game and should have scored from two Perfectly taken corners from Eddie Parker.
Captain Simon Calley guilty of heading wide on both occasions when he knows he should have done lots better.
The first half was drawing to close and it was Freeland s Captain again that was in the thick of the action. After an initial attack had broke down calley had stayed up in the opponents final third.
Liam Harris threaded a perfectly weighted ball to Calley who finished emphatically left footed across the keeper from 15 Yards.
The first half ended 1-0 to the home side and the management didn’t have any complaints.
The second half started as the first half ended with the home side driving forward with wave after wave of attack.
It wasn’t long before the home side doubled their lead through top scorer Danny Taylor with a smart right foot finish low into the bottom corner from 8 yards.
The game then turned on his head when out of nowhere the away side pulled a goal back against the run of play. Some great work down the right-hand side and a superb cross found the on rushing Watlington Midfielder at the back post giving our very milky bar kit no chance in the home sides goal.
Game on now for 15mins or so and the home side were given some nervous moments in a game they really should have been out of site in. Next goal was crucial, and it was the Redmen who found the opening. Again, it was Danny Taylor who finished off a good move from the home side sweeping in from 6 yards out after some good work from Eddie I don’t mind a step over Parker.
So, all that is left to say is that Freeland have made it through to the final of the Charity Cup for a second year running.
Waiting for us is a small game against a west Oxfordshire side called Long Hanborough.
Ill must do some research on them as I’m not too sure where they are and what league they play in. ?. Massive Massive game for the Redmen.
I love Saturdays See you at the weekend.
