Clash of The Top Two
Already a Six Pointer
Freeland Travelled to Heyford Ath knowing that three points would send out a huge statement to the rest of the OSL.
After the disappointment of the week before Freeland knew that they had to be at their very best against a very impressive side in Heyford.
They started the game extremely well and could have been a few goals to the good in the first 15 mins.
The new midfield three of Eddie Parker
, Liam Harris
and the returning Stuart Hole
were running the game in the opening exchanges.
The breakthrough did come midway through the first half when Captain Simon Calley Headed home a fantastically weighted corner from Eddie Parker
Freeland were on top creating some decent chances and were looking to add the second goal as quickly as possible.
They were playing down the dreaded slop first half and needed to make the most of this.
That they did soon after when the very impressive Tom McCudden
finished in style low to the Keepers left.
Two nil and a fantastic first half showing from the Reds.
If only games like these were 45 mins long. The home side knowing that they had to score early came flying out of the traps and were playing a very interesting system of 2 -2 -5 and throwing everything they could at the away side.
Eventually this did bear fruit for the home side and they got a well-deserved goal.
Two one and twenty mins to go. Could the reds keep the waves of yellow and black at bay.
Adam the Cat Lonsdale did try his best and always saves a worldie for the Heyford game and this time was no exception when turning the ball around the upright with the back of his head.
The second goal was coming and with Macnamara with no voice left this did arrive ten mins from time.
Hate to say deserved, a draw a fair result and on the face of things a better point for the Freeland Boys.
I love Saturdays!!! Especially the first part of this one.
