4 Star Performance
Freeland were back in league action again. This time away at Cropredy.
Both sides coming into the game with very similar records for the start of the season.
The first half started very brightly for the home side with wave after wave of attack.
Freeland had not started well again and against a side with their shooting boots on they could well of been two down in the opening minutes. Saying that though after some encouraging words from Longford and McNamara the reds started to impose themselves on the game.
Chances were starting to come and go for the away side with Taylor and McCudden guilty of firing high and wide.
Then the Reds did make the breakthrough a decent finish from Jason Lonsdale
after a good ball accross goal from Tom McCudden
The Reds didnt have to wait long for their second to arrive and arrive in style it did. Tom McCudden
firing home from fully 25 yards.
The away side were now in total control and were looking like they could put the game to bed by halftime.
This didnt happen and the home side did manage to get themselves into the game in the closing minutes of the first half.
So, Halftime and Freeland are 0-2 Up.
The second half starts and the Reds are still managing to miss chances, will this come back to haunt them later in the game.
Then finally the third goal did come for Freeland. Tom McCudden
had managed to do all of the hard work rounding the Keeper, playing a one two with the post, and finally laying the ball into Taylor to find the net from fully four yards.
Surely now the game is out of sight for the home side. However, in good old Freeland fashion the Reds switch off ( Thinking of the race night??) They let Cropredy score. All i can is total school boy defending and we must do a lot better if we are going to suceed this season.
So, 1-3 and in all fairness to the home side they now see a way back into the game.
Now for the turning point for me (maybe bias make your own mind up) Jason Lonsdale
with some great work down the right-hand side. He drives into the box getting fouled twice in the process ( Nothing Given) the ball then squirms through to Tom McCudden
who knocks the ball past the keeper ( Only to get cleaned up again nothing given) then the ball falls at the feet of Danny Taylor
to fire goalwards this time to be handled by a defender ( Still nothing given by crusty the clown). Speechless.
Longford then decides its time to change a few things Mays and Keyes on for Taylor and McCudden.
Its not long before the game is out of sight and the Reds get their fourth goal. A long ball causes havoc in the home sides defence leaving Keyes a simple tap inand the game is put to bed.
3 points thanks very much. Senior Cup this week more of the same please boys. I love a Saturday me.
