Freeland entertained North Oxford, where a lively game ended in both teams gaining a point.
The opening part of the game was evenly matched, with both sides looking for an early advantage. As the game progressed Freeland stamped their authority on the game having much of the play and numerous chances.
It was, however, North Oxford who went closest hitting the post after some poor Freeland Defending. It was no surprise when Freeland took the lead, from a Gary Brooks corner, centre back Bradley Woodbridge bundled the ball over the line.
Freeland started the second half as they had finished the first, looking to increase their lead.
The strikers, Walsh and Salter had a number of opportunities to put the game well out of North Oxfords reach, but thanks to some good defending and excellent saves from the keeper failed to do so. The home teams sub Crocker was causing lots of problems on the right hand side and looked like he would be the key to Freeland’s attacks.
As Freeland pushed for the all important second goal, North Oxford hit them on the counter attack and Ed Brasha grabbed the equaliser.Freeland then pushed on looking for the winner and sub Salkeld had a glorious opportunity to open his league account but fired over from a matter of yards.
It was certainly a case of missed chances, and although still unbeaten, Freeland could live to regret not taking 3 points from games like this come May.
