CONGRATULATIONS??p>
Freeland 2 - 5 Witney Royals A??p>
I could do a match report but it was not the greatest performance by the mighty Freeland A, a Jon Langford cameo and brace by Jason Footitt were the highlights, instead I will stick to the high points of the season.??p>
Freeland A were in the top two for most of the season, up until the final few weeks of the season, and they have made great strides since their first season last year. The A Team now has the basis of a very good team, a team which can improve again next term.??p>
Goals of the season, Bonks two wonder strikes against Chippy and Hollybush, Richy Howes audacious thirty yarder to claw Freeland back into the game against Marlborough, and a Pirate thunderbolt to give Freeland the points against Combe. Jason Footitt also had a good shout with his solo effort against Royals, turning two defenders inside out before calmly sliding the ball into the bottom corner.??p>
I could not go without mentioning Richy Stanleys goalkeeping master class against Royals, Mark Venn leading the line against Combe and Pakkas brace against Brize Norton.??p>
The A Team were involved in some classic encounters this year, coming from two goals down to beat Marlborough with the last kick of the game, a Glasto inspired comeback against Hollybush and despite losing the game against Carteton at home was a memorable game.??p>
So as I sign out for the season, may I congratulate every player who played for all three Freeland sides, and the backroom staff who make it all possible. With the Firsts gaining promotion with an emphatic win against Mansfield Road and the Reserves gaining a deserved title in Division Three there are plenty of reasons to celebrate.??p>
With rumours of a B Team next season, lets hope for more of the same next year!! One life, one love, one Freeland FC!!??p>
