ONE FOR THE MONEY AND THE FREE RIDE

Yarnton Res 0 - 1 Freeland

Due to a number of injuries a reshuffled Freeland team went to Yarnton. The defence had been reshaped and was one of the most experienced (by that I mean oldest players) this season.

Freeland came racing out of the starting blocks and played some good football and were a goal up after eight minutes when Bradley Woodridge powerfully headed home from a Gary Brooks corner. Paul Salter was unlucky not to double the lead soon after from a fine solo effort.

We seemed to think another goal would be easy but the longer the game went on, the more ragged we became with passes going astray. The pitch did not help a passing team ??? it resembled a parsnip patch that had been dug over!

In the second half Ben Glastonbury replaced JJ Harriot and linked well with the impressive Paul Salter.

As the game went on, Yarnton became stronger and in the final minutes our Keeper Jamie Perkin was called into action, but our defence held out with some tired legs.

This was not a pretty game but we won and picked up points.
