Freeland 1 - 1 Slade Farm

FREELAND GO FARMING

Freeland 1 - 1 Slade Farm

In very cold conditions we went to the undefeated Slade Farm and battled in a very even first half hour with Slade breaking the deadlock with a well taken left foot shot that beat the despairing dive of Goalkeeper Perkin. Freeland were unlucky soon after this with a well taken free kick from Brooks shaving the right hand upright with the keeper flailing.

Half time and the score remained 1-0 to Slade Farm. It was not a despairing team talk at half time as we knew we were on top for a lot of the game and could take our chances in the second half

Second half, we came out a lot sharper and on top of our game, what a team talk at half time, as Slade were camped in their own half on the defensive for much of the second half. We broke the deadlock when the Aussie bound Dan Taylor beat the offside trap to stab home the equaliser.

The introduction of Craig Simpson was key to a lot of good things created in the final quarter of the game by Freeland and it was Simpson that nearly won the game in the final minutes, expertly turning a defender and drilling a dipping 30 yard drive just over the bar. We all thought it had done enough to go in.

Slade at the end were happier with the draw, they are still undefeated in the League, we took the only points from them with this draw.
