OH MY GOD, NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL A RESERVE TEAM??p>
On a cold icy afternoon Freeland hoped to start 2009 as they had left off 2008. Freeland could boast some big names in there squad, with superstars Richard Trigg and Paul Sakey (who the hells that Bill??) lookalike Dale Kardos were included.
Freeland raced out of the blocks and should have been at least three up inside the opening ten minutes, with Tarr, Salter and Belcher all guilty of missing easy opportunities, and the Enstone keeper making a string of great saves.??p>
Freeland were playing some great football and Enstone could hardly get a touch of the ball, that was untill completley against the run of play Enstone striker Alex Newton hit a speculative shot form thirty yards, which zipped off the ice rink like turf and beat Leachs sort of outstretched arm.??p>
This then led Freeland to up the already high tempo of their game, and they were rewarded when Dave Tarr opened the scoring, tapping home from close range. This was the catalyst and Freeland deservedly added to their total through top scorer Paul Salter and Italian international Chris Palmer.??p>
It was left to Dave Tarr to complete the scoring before half time when a Thierry Henry esque free kick left the Enstone keeper rooted to the spot as he was trying to sort out his wall.??p>
The second half was played at a slow pace with Enstone having no real threat or prolonged possession, this allowed Freeland to take their foot off the gas and play some lovely passing football.??p>
They added to there total when a corner was not cleared and Rugger man Dale Kardos hit a shot towards goal, the ball spinning off the back of our local bobby Tom Masons back and into the net.??p>
It was left to winger Thomas Scroggs to complete the scoring when some great work by Palmer led to Scroggs getting on the end and calmly slotting home. Scroggs second and Freelands seventh was arguably the best of the day, when from a tight angle he delicatley chipped the ball over the keeper.??p>
