FREELAND RUN RIOT TO GET BACK TO WINNING WAYS??p>
Freeland Res 14 (fourteen) - 0 Charlton Res??p>
Freeland came back with a bang after last weeks disappointing loss by hitting a fantastic fourteen goals past Charlton Reserves. Freeland were boosted before the game by the return of serial tourist Jamie Leach in goal, and also called on the services of the livewire pest Danny Taylor upfront and club carthorse, and French international, Simon Hole in defence.??p>
Despite the danger of the quicksand and a boggy pitch Freeland managed to play some great flowing football which carved open the Charlton defence time and again, and from the first few minutes the Charlton keeper had made two great saves and it looked like he was in for a busy day. Danny Taylor had five glorious chances to open the scoring in the opening exchanges as Charlton failed to cope with him and fellow strike partner Dave Tarr.??p>
After ten minutes the deadlock was finally broken, with Rob Belcher getting his and Freelands first with a predatory strike. It was like lambs to the slaughter as Freeland pressed and pressed and it wasnt long before the impressive Belcher doubled the lead with a cheeky back heel, and not long after Dave Tarr made it three.??p>
Ben Sadler decided to join the party, and despite not getting dirty, he got himself on the score sheet with a thunderbolt of a strike from the edge of the box. Charlton posed no real threat to Freeland, and with the defence coping admirably, the returning Jamie Leach had time to top up his rather impressive tan. Ben Symonds was his usual tower of strength, even after the pint sized old timer was spotted drunk and disorderly with the first team manager the night before.??p>
The fourth goal came through a Sam Symonds penalty and Rob Belcher completed a first half hat trick to make it 7-0 at half time. Freeland started the second half where they had left off, with Dave Tarr getting his second of the game with a well taken finish.??p>
Then came another penalty, and after some debate Sam Symonds eventually slotted the spot kick coolly past the unfortunate Charlton keeper. The Charlton keeper then made another string of outstanding saves as Freeland laid siege on his goal. Freeland missed some guilt edged chances, Tarr missing from a yard out as he looked to grab himself a hat trick. Substitute Hardy was then guilty of missing two easy chances to get his name on the score sheet, but he shanked a chance from four yards out wide, and then missed the ball completely from even closer after Symonds had drilled in a magnificent cross.??p>
Danny Taylor struck with a fine solo effort and manager Langford then made it eleven with two goals in two minutes. The last twenty minutes Freeland took their foot off the gas and played at half pace, until veteran Panting came on upfront to liven things up, and he was instantly effective by making some lively runs, however, the veteran was too quick for everyone else and was constantly flagged offside.??p>
Simon Calley became the second player to score a hat trick with three goals in the last quarter of the game, including a wonderful finish after a fabulous Freeland move, and a brave finish to complete his hat trick.??p>
Freeland could not have responded to their defeat last week any better, and they certainly proved they had bouncebackability.??p>
