Freelands unbeaten run came crashing to an end at strugglers Long Crendon on Saturday. On a cold foggy day, and a pitch that was not ideally suited to flowing football, Freeland were without influential rozzer Tom Mason who missed the game with an on going blister related injury.??p>
After beating Crendon 10-0 earlier in the season Crendon showed from the off that they were determined not to be on the end of a drubbing again. They chased everything down, and gave Freeland no time on the ball. It was no surprise after fifteen minutes then they took the lead when they sprung the offside trap and coolly slotted home to make it 1-0.??p>
Freeland were nearly back in it straight away, when striker Salter forced the first of many great saves from the Crendon keeper. Crendon kept pushing and got a vital second goal after a cross from the left handed Kenny Eldridge a free header. Things got even worse for Freeland as Crendon crabbed a third shortly after.??p>
Freeland started slightly better in the second half and seemed to up the tempo and start putting in some challenges. However thanks to some more great saves Crendon kept Freeland at bay.??p>
Freelands fate was sealed when Crendon went 4-0 up thanks to a penalty after the Crendon forward had his shirt pulled back in the area.??p>
Darren Paton gave freeland something to smile about with a fantastic volleyed goal from a corner. This seemed to up Freeland who started to play some football and put in some challenges. Led by gaffer Nathan Langford who started putting in some don???t mess with me, full blooded tackles.??p>
It was all too little to late for Freeland and despite Simon Calleys late consolation, they slipped to their first defeat of the season.??p>
