Freeland travelled to lowly Charlton confident of continuing their unbeaten run to nine games. In the windy arctic conditions Freeland started positively playing some lovely flowing football using the two wide men Scroggs and Hollywood to full effect. ??p>
Charltons main threats came with some wind assisted goal kicks, which were causing Freeland some problems in the middle of the park, but anything nearer Freelands penalty area was ably swept up by Simon Calley. ??p>
Freeland really stepped up a gear after the first fifteen minutes and Ben Sadler and Tom Mason stamped their authority on the game. Rob Belcher was unlucky not to score when a delicate lob sailed just over. They made the breakthrough when top scorer Paul Salter added to his seasons tally with a superb finish. ??p>
Salter was unlucky not to grab his second when he had a goal ruled out harshly for offside and defender Sam Symonds had a goal bound shot bravely blocked. ??p>
The second half saw the threat of Chartons long ball disappear in the swirling wind and this gave Freeland more of the ball and saw them create more chances as Charlton ran out of ideas. After some good moves but without anything to show for it, their patience was rewarded when striker Belcher beat the offside trap and then lofted the ball over the keeper with a great chip. This effectively ended the game as a contest and Charlton were happy to commit men forward but with no real threat. ??p>
The icing on the cake came with Freelands third from substitute Mark Gaul who calmly slotted home after a great run. This ensured the reserves unbeaten run continued and that they also stayed top of the table. ??p>
It also has to be noted that Charlton have so far got the pub of the year award, thanks to some great food and cheap drinks. ??p>
